Maintaining weight loss
Maintaining weight loss can be a difficult and daunting prospect. Hopefully, with our help at Evolve, you won’t have felt like you were on a diet. When you have reached your goal you may be concerned that any change in routine will make you slip back into your old ways and get back into habits that led to weight gain in the past. In this blog we are going to provide you with some helpful tips to help you maintain your weight loss.
Don’t let yourself get too hungry
A lot of people gain weight because they are skipping meals and bingeing on sugary foods. An important strategy for weight loss is filling your diet with tasty, healthy food. Try to continue your good habits and plan meals. This will always be a good habit to take with you going forward. It will save you time and money, while helping you maintain your hard work.
Exercise regularly
Find something you enjoy doing and go and get active. Current guidelines from the World Health Organisation suggest getting 150 minutes of exercise per week. Exercising regularly will help you maintain your weight while simultaneously lowering your blood pressure, improving your mood and decreasing your cholesterol. So get up and get out and about. Whether you like walking, running or swimming. Reformer pilates is a great cardiovascular exercise that will also help you tone up after you’ve lost weight. Plan for events
If you have an event coming up, a dinner out or a party, make sure you eat well for the rest of the day. Make sure not to starve yourself in anticipation, this will lead to over eating. Eat well and then you can enjoy the event without feeling like your eating is out of control. This will ensure you don’t wake up the next day feeling guilty, which can lead to restriction. Get up the next day and rest yourself with a good breakfast.
Ask for help
When you have reached your goal, we will discuss with you a plan for maintenance. That will usually mean visits once a month for a period of time and then we will see you less frequently. This means that you still have some accountability, helping you to stay on track.
